Illegal Drug on Children

In 2012, GlaxoSmithKline paid a $3 billion fine for promoting the antidepressant Paxil for children and adolescents without approval, and for hiding studies showing the drug was ineffective and dangerous for kids.

Electroshock

Despite no clinical trials proving its safety, ECT is used on over 20,000 Americans annually, including young children. Evidence shows severe risks, such as permanent brain damage and suicide, leading some U.S. states and Australia to restrict its use on minors. CCHR argues ECT should not be used on vulnerable populations.

Scientific Racism

Hidden Risks of ADHD Drugs

Millions of Americans, including children, are prescribed ADHD drugs without knowing the risks. These drugs can cause new or worse behavior and thought problems, increased aggression, sudden death in patients with heart issues, stroke and heart attack in adults, and elevated blood pressure and heart rate.

Labeling and Medication

Each year, millions of young people receive mental disorder diagnoses based on subjective evaluations rather than rigorous clinical assessments, driving the prescription of drugs with severe side effects. These labels perpetuate stigma and dependency, despite lacking solid medical validation.

The Baker Act

USE AND ABUSE
Many people who are forced into psychiatric examination do not meet the criteria for a Baker Act examination. Chapter 394 of the Florida Statutes gives the criteria and provides definitions. If your loved one has dementia, they are at risk of being Baker Acted. Anyone can be Baker Acted at any time, including pregnant women and mothers who have just given birth.
